Renzo Rendale Smith

Renzo Rendale Smith, 36, transitioned from this life on June 6, 2023, in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Smith and his son Shaw Jackson loss their life in a mass shooting incident in Richmond, Virginia after school graduation ceremony. Visitation will be held on June 20, 2023 in the chapel of Hester Central State Funeral Home, 811 Louise Anne Avenue, Monroe, Louisiana from 3pm to 6pm. Funeral services will be at 1pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Saint James #2 Missionary Baptist Church, 2665 Richwood Road #2, Monroe, Louisiana. Mr. Smith will be buried in Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, Virginia. 

Renzo was born to Joseph and Grenda Smith in Monroe, Louisiana. Baptized as at a young age at Saint James #2 Missionary Baptist Church, Monroe, Louisiana under the leadership of Pastor J.J. Stewart. As a devoted Christian he participated in Sunday School and sang in the youth choir. Renzo was a very courageous, humble, and strong individual. He was a graduate of Richwood High School in the class of 2005. After graduating high school, he completed a short tour in United States National Reserve in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Later, he decided to enlist full-time in the United States Army. While serving in the military, he completed several tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guatemala. While serving his country he then became ill and received an honorable discharge. 

Afterglow

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways of happy times and laughing times and bright and summer days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
