Melvin D. Harris, 79, transitioned from this life on January  2023 in Monroe, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at New Salem Baptist Church, 324 Hickory Bend Road, West Monroe, Louisiana. Burial will immediately follow at Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery, Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 2pm to 5pm in the chapel of Hester Central State Funeral Home, 811 Louise Anne Avenue, Monroe, Louisiana.

Lift us up, strong Son of God, that we may see further; cleanse our eyes that we may see more clearly; draw us closer to yourself that we may know ourselves nearer to our beloved who are with you. And while you prepare a place for us, prepare us for that happy place, that where they are, any you are, we too may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
