Lavern Robert "Knockout" Hester

Lavern Robert "Knockout" Hester, 87, transitioned from this life on December 28, 2024 in Monroe, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 2pm to 6pm on January 2, 2025 in the chapel of Hester Central State Funeral Home, 811 Louise Anne Avenue, Monroe, Louisiana. Funeral service will be at 11 am on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, 5133 Brown Road, Richwood, Louisiana. Burial will immediately follow at Richwood Memorial Gardens, 2705 Richwood Road #2, Richwood, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers the family ask that you contribute to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Community Soup Kitchen located in Monroe, Louisiana. 

Laver Robert "Knockout" Hester, reared in Richwood, Louisiana to the parents of Albert Theodore Hester and Theresa Geneva Williams Hester. Lavern's life is a testament to faith, family, and service. He became a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Richwood at an early age, where he remained a dedicated member until his passing. Lavern a proud graduate of Southern University where "Excellence is defined, Pride is sustained, and Tradition is the guide." After graduating  he served as a classroom teacher and coach for basketball and baseball. In addition to his work as an educator Lavern was the owner and manger of Hester Central State Funeral located in Monroe, Louisiana. There he was able to provide compassionate care to families for over fifty years. He also served as an alderman for the Town of Richwood for over 25 years. Lavern was a great man of faith, he loved his community, and was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

We'll always remember you Dad, because there'll neve be another one to replace you in our hearts and the love we will always have for you.
